{"id":90,"date":"2016-02-02T00:14:51","date_gmt":"2016-02-02T00:14:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/publicbankingalliance.ie\/?page_id=90"},"modified":"2020-07-17T19:40:48","modified_gmt":"2020-07-17T18:40:48","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/publicbankingalliance.ie\/?page_id=90","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>The Purpose of the Public Banking Alliance Campaign<\/strong><\/span> is to introduce a comprehensive Regional Community-Public Banking System to Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>With the main objectives of,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting Small Businesses and families<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening and empowering communities<\/li>\n<li>Providing safety for depositors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In Ireland Small and Medium Size Businesses (SME&#8217;s) provide c. 70% of all our jobs.<\/p>\n<p>The State is borrowing money from a German Public Bank, KfW, channeling it through the SBCI (Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland) and on-wards to the Irish Commercial Banks, for them to on-lend at margins of up to 3% to Irish SME&#8217;s. The State\/taxpayers is essentially subsidising the commercial banks.<\/p>\n<p>SME financing, Q4, 2019 ISME members survey shows SME demand for funding at 24% and loan refusal rates decrease from 58% to 19%, with 44% being partially successful. ISME represents 9,500 SME&#8217;s. ISME bank-watch <a href=\"https:\/\/isme.ie\/pr-q4-2019-bank-watch-report\/\">Link:<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Unsecured Lenders:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Current situation with the Commercial Banks is that your savings are not safe in them; depositors are classed as unsecured lenders to the bank.
